DATE OF MOH ACTION: 27/06/1864 Kenesaw Mountain, Georgia.

 

Civil War Congressional Medal of Honor Recipient. He served as a Musician in the Union Army in the 86th Illinois Infantry. He was awarded the Medal of Honor for action on June 27, 1864 at Kenesaw Mountain, Georgia.

 

MOH CITATION:

 

Voluntarily joined in a charge against the enemy, which was repulsed, and by his rapid firing in the face of the enemy enabled many of the wounded to return to the Federal lines; with others, held the advance of the enemy while temporary works were being constructed.
