Union Brevet Brigadier General, Civil War CMOH recipient. Served as an Aide to 5 different Union Generals (most notably Gen. Daniel E. Sickles). He was awarded the Medal of Honor for voluntarily riding between two Union brigades who were mistakenly firing upon each other and stopping them, at the Battle of Resaca.
