DATE OF MOH ACTION: 25, 27 and 29/03 and 04/04/1899 Philippines.

 

He was one of three Marines (along with Thomas Francis Prendergast and Joseph Leonard) attached to the Eighth Army Corps for the war. Buckley was awarded the medal for actions on March 25, 27, and 29 and April 4, 1899.

 

Buckley joined the Marine Corps from Brooklyn in July 1896, and received a bad conduct discharge in June 1913.

 

MOH CITATION:

 

For distinguished conduct in the presence of the Enemy in battle while with the Eighth Army Corps on 25, 27, March 29, and April 4, 1899.

 

BURIAL LOCATION: WHEELER CEMETERY, WHEELER, NEW YORK.
