DATE OF MOH ACTION: 23/08/1862 Rappahannock Station, Virginia.

 

Civil War Congressional Medal of Honor Recipient. He was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He died in Darby, Pennsylvania. He entered the Union Army in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and served as a Private in Company A, 90th Pennsylvania Infantry. He was awarded the CMOH for action on August 23, 1862 at Rappahannock Station, Virginia. He was a POW.

 

MOH CITATION:

 

At the imminent risk of his life, crawled to a nearby spring within the enemy's range and, exposed to constant fire, filled a large number of canteens, and returned in safety to the relief of his comrades who were suffering from want of water.

 

BURIAL LOCATION: ARLINGTON CEMETERY, DREXEL HILL, PENNSYLVANIA.
