Philippine Insurrection Congressional Medal of Honor Recipient. Born in Leavenworth, Kansas, he served as a Sergeant in Troop B, 6th Cavalry US Army. On July 2, 1909, at Patian Island, Philippine Islands, Sergeant Henderson's troop was in actions against hostile Moros. Under heavy fire Sergeant Henderson on his own, advanced to about 15 yards of the enemy position and refastened to a tree a block and tackle used in checking the recoil of a mountain gun. For gallantry in the face of the enemy, he was awarded the Medal of Honor and later obtained the rank of Master Sergeant.
While in action against hostile Moros, voluntarily advanced alone, in the face of a heavy fire, to within about 15 yards of the hostile position and refastened to a tree a block and tackle used in checking the recoil of a mountain gun.
