Civil War Congressional Medal of Honor Recipient. He served during the Civil War as a Corporal in Company H, 2nd Minnesota Volunteer Infantry. He was awarded the CMOH for his bravery at Nolensville, Tennessee, on February 15, 1863. His Medal was awarded to him on September 11, 1897.
Was one of a detachment of 16 men who heroically defended a wagon train against the attack of 125 indians, repulsed the attack and saved the train.
