DATE OF MOH ACTION: 14/01/1863 Bayou Teche, Louisiana.

 

Civil War Congressional Medal of Honor Recipient. He served as a Captain in the Union Army. He was awarded the Medal of Honor as a First Sergeant in Company H, 8th Vermont Infantry for action on January 14, 1863 at Bayou Teche, Louisiana.

 

MOH CITATION:

 

Voluntarily carried an important message through the heavy fire of the enemy to bring aid and save the gunboat Calhoun.
